A new chapter of life has to be folded as this semester ends, but the memories we shared will forever be treasured. Beloved teacher Mr. Aller, friends, classmates, Efcomers, ladies and gentlemen, Good Morning!5 months of being together is just like a century being with you. We struggle, laugh, joke, cheat, criticize, tease and together we say YEHEY-way klase!!
I can proudly say I am the best when I’m with you and without you guys I am just a nobody.
153 days (I’ve been counting), in the four corners of our room, I’ve learned to retain my poise, smile and confidence even though I have experienced coming in 40 minute late..Actually that’s superb late for the record.
I’ve learned to break barriers between me and my colleagues for I learned that proper communication builds and creates strong foundation of relationships.
I’ve learned to envy Mr. Aller for he is a man of grace, poise, and compassion. But at the end of the day I’ve learned to thank him silently for he thought us greater things, greater than what you think.
I’ve learned to be a human capable of learning and losing. And, I’ve learned to simply appreciate life…YOU-for you yourself is a gift that I will eternally cherished and remembered.
I’ve learned this during the short film making that once somebody searched for a citation which could apply in any given situation, whether it be happy or sad, the end of something or the beginning thereof.
Circumstances change, even friends separate, but one’s experiences gleaned throughout the semester, somehow remain and influence one’s future choices.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have the skill to learn, aptitude to succeed, abilities and creativity to make a difference, to work to meet the needs and assist in solving of the problems that face society.
As an Efcomer, you are part of a group or cohort that has significant achievements and events together. And, some of these could have been life changing.
Before I will end my speech, let me share to you this poem by Douglas Malloch, that really inspired and touched my heart and dreams, and I do hope that this will also bring realization and determination in your chosen fields.
If you can’t be a pine on the top of the hill, be a shrub in the valley- but be best little shrub by the side of the rill; be a bush if you can’t be a tree.
We can’t all be captains; we’ve got to be crew. There’s something for all of us here. There’s big work to do and there’s lesser to do. And the task we must do is the near.
If you can’t be the highway, then just be a trail; if you can’t be the sun be a star. It isn’t in size that you win or you fail. Be the best of whatever you are.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Be the best of whatever you are. Good Morning!
